Copy Link Button

When trying to sync to Dropbox or link to an account, a popup appears saying to go to the link. on Debian based distros a browser window opens up automatically but on Fedora based distros nothing happens and you are left to type in a very long link. I would suggest making the link clickable or a button that allows the user to copy the link to the clipboard so they can paste it in the browser URL.

Have you tried using the operating system keyboard short cuts for copy and paste.

The link isn't highlightable to copy and paste.

    Hi Marc,
    You could try this:

echo "Hello Fedora" | xclip -selection clipboard

(This puts the text into the clipboard so you can paste with Ctrl + V)

Please keep us posted on your progress, Thank you!

Your suggestion does work, however for someone coming to Linux for the first time it would be a lot easier to just have a button that "Copy to Clipboard." I've been using Linux for just over a year and while I'm comfortable with command lines, new users may not be. A simple button would make Moneydance more user friendly and accessible.

I just looked into this as I seemed to remember that this was already copied to the clipboard - and low and behold - yes it is.. So what version of MD are you using? That would have been useful info to know upfront?

As far as I can see, this auto-copy of the link was implemented in 2022(4045) in Oct 2021.

    The current message is:

"Please open the URL below in a browser:
    {url-here}
The URL has also been copied to your clipboard. I'm sorry I couldn't open it automatically."

    Please confirm?

Version 2024.4 (5253). And it does appear when I click on the link it does copy it to the clipboard, but the issue is there's no indication it's done that. I'm simply suggesting that there either be a button or, now that I know clicking on the link copies it to the clipboard, maybe a pop up appears stating as such, so it's more clear to the end user is all.

Are you saying that in your original message and screen shot that it actually said
“ The URL has also been copied to your clipboard. I'm sorry I couldn't open it automatically” on line three below the url line - where you redacted it out in red?

… if not, please reproduce, send new screen shot and grab help/show console and upload that here.

I understand your request about a button, but if it does tell you that it’s don’t this then it is indicating this to you already?

I don’t know if @marc and @DCooper78 are the same person? Please clarify? If not, please both clarify version and answer to posts
    8/9 above. Thanks.

Yes... I'm Marc and DCooper78 is me. When I initially created the ticket, I forgot to log in. I apologize for the confusion there.

I've attached a new video example showing that when trying to sync with Dropbox there is nothing that says the link was copied to the clipboard. However, I finally noticed that message when trying to link an account. I think I saw the wall of text and missed the message at the bottom.

Thanks. It might be chopped off. I’ll take a look.
