Dobule Entry Accounting
MD is correctly built on double accounting principles yet even after I've used this software for 15 years now, I'm still thrown by the use of "decrease" and "increase" instead of "debit" and "credit" on the account screens. I've not had enough coffee this morning for the mental gymnastics that it takes to convert them in my mind. It is such a weird design choice and even though my ACC101 class was 40 years ago I'm getting stuck on the idea of "increasing" a liablity account" or "decreasing an asset account." Maybe its a UK thing or something? What is wrong with debits and credits?

Thank you for contacting Moneydance support.
We’ve set custom debit/credit column headers for bank and credit‑card accounts. Income categories show “Increase” or “Decrease,” but in reverse—which actually makes sense. Would you say the issue may only affect liability accounts?
If so, it should be a quick fix.
