Cannot import from Quicken Essentials
I have followed the instructions but not been successful in importing my accounts from Quicken Essentials to Money Dance.
I need more help. How do I get more support from Money Dance?

I was told I could drag a Quickendata file to accomplish the import. That method did not work. MoneyDance did not accept the file I dragged.
I also tried the method of going to the Welcome Window and choosing Import from Quicken Essentials. See attached below for the failed results of that method.

It looks like your file does not have the .quickendata extension. If you rename it so that it is called "data.quickendata" instead of just "data," the import should work.

What makes you think the file does not have the quickendata extension? It is named Tracy's Finances.quickendata.

I need more support. Can I please have more support from Money Dance?

Please look at the attached screen shot again. See at the bottom that the "Open" option is greyed out. Also the file labeled "data" is greyed out. Money Dance will not let me select anything from this file with the .quickendata extension.

Please see the attached image of all my .quickendata files. Money Dance does not accept any of these files for import using either the dragging method or the Migrate From Quicken Essentials method on the Welcome Window .
I have bought your product and I want to use your product but cannot do so if I can't migrate my files. Part of the reason I bought Money Dance was that the sales info said migrating from Quicken Essentials would be easy.

I think I see what is going on here. You need to select the file called "Tracy's Finances.quickendata" and then click open, not the file called "data" that is inside it.

Thank you but that is not the solution. I am not trying to click the file
named "data".
When I go to the Welcome Window> Migrate from Quicken Essentials I get the
screen shot you see in the first attachment. I am trying to import the
whole .quickendata file but Money Dance breaks it down like you see in the
screen shot and won't let me select any of it

When you are trying to select your .quickendata file are you single clicking on it or are you double clicking it. You should single click it to select it and then click the open button.

No that is not the solution. When I single click the .quickendata file I
get the window you see in the first screenshot--with "open" greyed out-- so
I cannot proceed. Can I please talk to the Money Dance support people in
real time. This back and forth emailing is NOT supporting me.

OK, try right-clicking on your .quickendata file and then select the Open With option and choose Moneydance from the list of applications. If Moneydance is not available in the list, select Other and then choose the Moneydance app from your Applications folder.

That also does not work. I don't understand why. In Finder I select All
Applications (as opposed to Recommended Applications) but no Money Dance.
Please talk to me.

To clarify, I right click the .quickendata file>choose Open With>taken to
Finder>no Money Dance

I hoped to be migrated to Money Dance before this happened , but here I am
because I could not get the necessary support to migrate my files to Money
Dance. I know the individual support staff are trying but I see serious
problems with Money Dance if the support team cannot support a customer
like me who has the desire to use your product.

At this point, I want Money Dance to refund my purchase price.
I will look for other alternatives to Quicken or buy Quicken 2015.
I am a very disappointed Money Dance customer.

This comment was split into a new discussion: Registration trouble
The same thing happens to me as did Tracy. It won't even let me register the product. It states I have an invalid registration number. I have wasted a whole day trying to set up this program. When I did get it to download my checking transactions the deposits were negative and checks we positive. I also want a refund.

I am sorry that our product did not meet your needs. I have asked our payment processing partners BMT Micro to process your refund. They will let you know when the process is complete from their end.
Please let me know if I can be of further assistance, and thank you for your interest in Moneydance.
