I will try to answer some of your questions.

Whether it is as function as Quicken is depended on your requirements, it is a different product and has different capabilities, it is not intended to be a Quicken clone.

Moneydance does not have its own billpay system. If your bank offers Direct Connect as a facility and has implemented the bill paying capability that is available with this then Moneydance supports this. Quicken is a product for North America whereas Moneydance is sold world wide what you can in a more restricted market is quite different to around the world, Quicken can have its own system or use a third party system due to the limited market the product is sold in.

Yes downloaded transactions can be categorized, this is part of Moneydance's confirmation process.

Moneydance does not maintain a separate payees list. For bill pay it uses direct connect to maintain the data for downloaded data it generates a list based on previous confirmed transactions.

You can try the product out for yourself, as downloaded the application operates in trial mode which allows for 100 manually entered transactions and unlimited imported data.

dwg
