I'm so sorry that your question didn't get answered in a timely manner.

It sounds like this may be a bug that has been fixed in a recent preview version of Moneydance. Would you mind trying the preview build from the following link? https://infinitekind.com/preview

Changing the account type in Moneydance is possible with a bit of a hack, but it's not usually pretty since investment accounts have a lot more structure than all the other account types. If the account only includes transfers in and out and not buy/sell/dividend transactions then it can be done, but I think it'd be best to just fix the original problem.

Thanks,
Sean

Thanks for the reply. I downloaded the program from your link and have V 1019.4 (1896) but running the import has the same problem; I can alter all account types apart from the ones identified as Investment accounts. Were you under the impression that I’d have the option to change these types too?

Cheers
Jess

jesstag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/478346522019-12-16T16:45:26Z2019-12-16T16:45:26ZImport assigning Investment type to an account and cannot be changed

Hi Jess,

No, it's not possible to change the types of investment accounts in the import window. There is another way to do it, but it'd be better to address the initial problem of the amounts being reversed first. Can you confirm whether the version you just downloaded has the current sign on imported transactions? If not, it would be helpful to see a small part of the QIF file (it's a plain text file) as well as a description (or screenshot) of the correct transaction field values for that part of the file.

Thanks,

I’ve finally got to grips with the account transfer (from Banktivity to Moneydance)! I changed all Investment accounts to either bank or asset and all seems well now with those.

I noticed the warning about not importing foreign currency accounts and have two cash accounts (one Euro one US$) so added them manually afterwards. I wonder if you can help me with the Euro account - It just has two transactions, both deposits and I was hoping to have the transaction record the exchange rate (as opposed to just adding the Euros in). I’ve added a screen grab - I bought two lots of Euros:

£2,459.79 giving me €2,815.00

£2,498.43 giving me €2,780.00

Total euros €5,595.00

I must be inputing it incorrectly but am unsure what’s wrong (given it’s showing me a balance of €4,994.22 (which is the £ amount not the € amount). Hopefully you can see what I need to change?!

Two other questions while I’m here (hope that’s OK!).

Is there a way to add accounts to the side bar? I see if I right-click on the Euro or US $ accounts I can remove them, but can’t see how I add others to it.

Lastly, the iPhone app - is there a way to remove some accounts from the sync? Ie, ideally I’d just have the few accounts I use on the go. And is it possible to have credit cards at the top (rather than bank accounts)?

Oh - sorry, one more question - I’m running v 2019.4 (1896) but online the latest version seems to be 2019.3 (1880) - I know you sent me a link to see if it fixed my import problems. My question is should I install the “Moneydance Updater” extension? Also, I notice with the version I have if I’m in an account the “Summary” button doesn’t work - I have to click on Reminders and then Summary to get to the summary page.

Thanks for your help

Best wishes
