If you haven't already, I encourage you to download our free
trial version and experiment with the program before you decide if
you would like to purchase it. The demo version is fully functional
and allows you to manually enter 100 transactions. Imported
transactions are not limited, so you'll be able to fully test
importing your data.

If you decide to purchase the program at a later date you can
keep all your data, the license key simply unlocks the ability to
manually enter more transactions. You can download the trial
version of Moneydance from here.

To answer your questions, whilst you can import your data from
Quicken or your bank, this is not necessary and you can very simply
add transactions manually to the register. I would recommend
checking out the
User Guide, specifically the first few chapters which detail
getting started and setting up your accounts.

The 'Savings Goals' feature has been suggested previously and we
currently have a ticket regarding this suggestion in our system.
I'll pass your feedback about this feature to the developers, and
we'll notify you of any updates.

You can itemise individual transactions using categories, go to
Tools --> Categories where you can create, edit or delete. Once
you have created the relevant transactions you can search using the
category and run reports from Tools --> Graphs and Reports. You
can read more about categories in the User Guide, specifically
Chapter 2, Page 20.

I hope this information is helpful, please let me know if I can
be of further assistance.
