When you click on a report in the side bar it generates a report based on the last used parameters.

At the top of the report is an Edit button, clicking on it takes you to a parameter screen. This screen does vary from report to report, but to use an Income and Expense report as an example (this is a category report) you can select the time period, exactly what categories you wish to report on, down to selecting them individually etc.

I would suggest at a starting point you look at the various reports see what parameters you can set and generate some samples to see if they meet your needs, before each run use the reset button to clear the current parameters out and reset the report.

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/484535592020-07-09T23:07:04Z2020-07-22T20:19:21ZHow to Generate Complex Reports

Thanks - I will look at report options again. Detail report. It allows selecting the accounts to be considered, limit
to expenses or income an to provide a date range and provide detail and
totals by categories BUT it does not provide the ability to select the
categories. For my purposes I would have to go through a considerable
amount of manual adjustments to get to the final number I am looking
for. From what I could find, some of the reports provide the ability to
select accounts others others to select categories. I did not find one
that provided the ability to both select accounts and select
categories. I need the a report generating capability like the Income
Expense - Detail report with the capability to also select categories.
Any suggestion how I get that?

Thanks Jim

There is a box at the bottom of the parameter screen, above it there are options, click on the one that says 'By Individual'. Your categories are then displayed and you can select only those that you want reported on.

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/484535592020-07-10T02:34:25Z2020-07-22T20:19:21ZHow to Generate Complex Reports

DWG

Thank you - that was the information I needed. I need to spend more
time exploring.
