We are sorry to hear about the problem you have encountered.
Unfortunately, other customers have been reporting a similar issue in Moneydance. There's an existing ticket in our ticketing system so I've attached it to this discussion and the developers will be looking into it.
So, it would be very helpful if you could provide us with your error logs generated after the "crash" as suggested by Stuart (a very Knowledgeable Moneydance user) in post 1 of this thread.
