Quicken Knows I switched! LOL
So I just started using MD about a week ago, maybe two. I am still using Quicken as a "backup" since I was just forced to renew my subscription, before I discovered MD. Last night I downloaded transactions with both MD and Quicken. In Quicken I got a pop up that I had never seen before stating "Quicken is not your preferred method of direct connect, would you like to set it to default?" LOL, I gladly clicked "NO". Wonder how it is that they know this? How obtrusive is Quicken? Oh well, If everything works out with MD, I won't be renewing Quicken next year anyway!

just a user,
It might just be your PC instead of Quicken. Sort of like when you have multiple browsers but the computer sets a default browser and you might get a popup asking about defaults

I suspect it would be Quicken on the PC monitoring something. For example I would expect it to monitor file associations like .OFX

I'm with you, dwg! I think Quicken is too obtrusive and makes me wonder(worry) what else they are tracking!

Given with Quicken that it knows if you are up-to-date with your subscription - I'm assuming the U.S. version works like the version we get here, then the software must be communicating with a Quicken server, for this at the very least.

A little more research and I found that it is a "File Association" thing on my computer.
Under "Default Programs" on my windows PC, Quicken is the default program for files of the .QFX type, But Money Dance is now the default program to handle .QIF file extension. I imagine this is because when I exported the .QIF file from quicken and opened it with Money Dance, it became the default automatically?
What File type does Money Dance Use?

Importing a QIF file with Moneydance would not be expected to cause the QIF association to change.
On Windows when you install Moneydance the installer asks if you want to associate certain file extensions with Moneydance, if you say no and want to do it later you have to change the association at the operating system level yourself, or reinstall Moneydance.
