Categories for downloaded transaction

I am trying out Moneydance. I have connected my bank accounts and a credit card. All downloads are categorized as "ATM Withdrawl." But of course they are not. How can I get them to download with no category so I can then quickly see and update the categories?

   You can edit the account to use a default category of your choice. I just created another category named "Expense" and set it as default. Once you start selecting categories on downloaded transactions, MD will start associating that category against expenses with the same description name.

   So, yes, the earliest letter category tends to get the default, by default... ;)

   Mine is Anything. But you can set the default through account/edit... So you can't "get them to download with no category" as Moneydance is accounting based, so everything has to go somewhere. Hence, why I made a category called Anything.

   Anything (or whatever you wish) is just as good as blank. And the good news is - when you update the categories, Moneydance does learn. Like if your Title is "My favorite grocery store" and you put that into category "Groceries"- Moneydance does offer that over time.
