showing previous transaction as cleared

My intention is to convert from my 2000 version of Quicken for Windows that I have used since Y2K. I loaded the first of my targeted accounts but one transaction from a couple years ago in the amount of $300.00 did not transfer over. I've manually entered the transaction into Moneydance and so now my numbers all match up. My question is how do I (or can I) manually clear this "new" transaction so it doesn't show up as an open item when I do future reconciliations? I know with Quicken I was able to force a "clear" if necessary which occasionally happened when I added existing accounts to the system.

Thank you,
Dick Foltz

just a user - my first concern would be why that $300 transaction did not move to the QIF file, and then import. I'd be worried that other items would do the same.

As to your specific question - you can clear ANY transaction, you just may not be able to reconcile it (since it was never reconciled by a bank). Click on the transaction, right click on the clear part of the transaction (heading C), and then click "Mark as clear" (the green dot should appear).

    Hope that helps.

The other transactions that transferred showed as cleared when appropriate. The problem was that this particular transaction did not transfer over at all. It had been properly cleared within Quicken (that's how I was able to verify the numbers and then manually re-enter in Moneydance). I tried it three times and for some reason this particular transaction was not picked up. No problem; I just re-entered using the original date and amount. But I'd like to have it reflected as cleared. Do I have to wait to clear it next time I do a reconciliation? I would be better if I could just manually mark it as cleared before I get to the next reconciliation process.

Thank you. That did it. I don't know why that item did not transfer, but it was from several years ago and most certainly had cleared. If it was more than this one transaction I would be more concerned, but being the only one of the however many transferred I only wanted to enter it and mark it cleared. Thank you again.
