Internet Connectivity
Because I care about privacy and security, I'd like to find a personal finance program that does not require a connection to the Internet.
My understanding of (MoneyDance competitor) Quicken is that it routinely requires you to log into your account on the Quicken website, even though the software and its data reside on your local computer. Is that the case with MoneyDance?

I'm fellow user.
Moneydance does not require internet connectivity. There is no Moneydance site that you have to log in to.
Internet connectivity is only required in a small number of circumstances:
You need the internet to download the program as well as any updates. Moneydance does not background download updates and apply them, you initiate it, it it totally under your control
You want automatic stock price updates
You want syncing of data between multiple computers, all data is encrypted and you set the password for decryption.
You want automatic downloads from financial institutions
