Open Moneydance file

I purchased and registered this moneydance file, however I cannot open an existing moneydance file sent to me by the treasurer of our group. I am becoming the new treasurer..
I am on a PC and the file I am trying to open is an IMac, it won't let me attach it.
I need help. Thank you

   Hi Jack

   As a starting point what version build of Moneydance e.g 2023.2(5060) was the original Data Set from and what version build is on your computer? This information can be found under HELP – ABOUT MONEYDANCE.
   The Data Set, what is its extension e.g .moneydance or .moneydancearchive etc.
   When you start Moneydance what do you see?
   How are you trying to open the Data Set?
   Do you see any messages?
   Close Moneydance open Moneydance and try again to open the Data Set.
   If you get no result click HELP – CONSOLE WINDOW and click SAVE and post a copy of the file this produces on the web site in your discussion at https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/discussions/switching-from-anoth...

   Hi Jack ,
   We are sorry to hear about the problem you have encountered.

   What format is the file the treasurer sent you?
   ie: filename.moneydance, YourFileName.md

   If the latter, you can open Moneydance and choose File --> Open --> Open Other (or 'Open Other' from the Welcome window), then navigate to and select the .md file.

   If the file is in the format: .moneydancearchive, it's a backup and you can simply double click to restore the file.
