change name of moneydance file
is moneydance data saved in a qif file? I would like to change the name of my data file. where is it stored?

A QIF file just contains raw transactions, it is not your Moneydance data file.
Moneydance handles data like a library, there is no one file or folder rather it is a bundle of files and folders together that comprise your data, changing the name of the top level folder changes the name of your "data file"
