Hello, I'm trying out Moneydance and am impressed with some features but am having this issue: How do I make transaction reports show the ORIGINAL currency amount of the transaction (not converted to my base currency)? I am loving the fast report generation, but this issue will really be a problem for me if there's not a solution.

    I'm a fellow user.

I do not see how these reports could report in anything other than the base currency as they currently stand. As a query could combine transactions from multiple accounts that are in different currencies and total these I do not think it has any other option but to convert each amount to the base currency.

To do what you want I think the reports would have to have an option to specify a reporting currency, which is something that might have to be looked at as a requested enhancement.

    Hi Robert,
Thank you for contacting Moneydance support.

I can see you’ve received a reply from one of our knowledgeable Moneydance customers, and it appears you’ve been given the information you need.

Additionally, I'd like to confirm that there's an existing ticket in our ticketing system with your suggestion, so I've attached it to this discussion and the developers will be looking into it.

Please let us know if we can be of further assistance!

Thanks to dwg and Maddy for your replies. I will definitely be interested if this feature is implemented in the future. For now, and for your developer's information, I'll just add that the kind of report I have in mind does not require any running totals: I just want a document, a historical record of transactions as they occurred. A general ledger (an interactive display of all transactions from all accounts and all dates) would be ideal but, failing that, Moneydances's incredibly fast report generator could serve as an acceptable substitute - if only it would report what was actually transacted.

Extension extract_data will extract the raw data including original local currency amounts. Extracts to a csv that will load into excel.

Thank you for your pertinent and useful suggestion Mr. Toolbox, which does all I asked for and more!
I would still hope a built-in reporting or ledger function could be implemented along the lines I mentioned (for a more streamlined and interactive workflow), but your extraction tool looks like a great supplement.
