Android App
I'm contemplating switching to MoneyDance. I just tried to download the app from the Google Play store and the play store says the app is not available for my device because it was made for an older device. I have a 3 year old Samsung s21 with Android version 14. It appears by reading the Google Play reviews that the Android app has not been updated in quite some time. The app is a must have for whatever software I decided to ultimately go with.

All the device versions (phone, notepad, etc) are just "satellite devices" for the main program which is on a desktop system (windows/mac/or linux).
You should be able to use some android version that's available. They aren't modified often, because they aren't the whole program.
There is some work being done to make the device versions more robust, but that's still forthcoming.

Hi Jeff,
Thank you for contacting Moneydance support.
Please note: I'm currently running version 2023.0 of the Moneydance mobile app on my Android phone version 15.3.45 and it works as expected.
So, you could try installing the version 2023.0 of the Android mobile app. This beta version is available for download here - at bottom right of the page, or via Google Play.
You can subscribe to the Google Play services beta using a web browser, or directly through your device. After you've signed up, it will be automatically downloaded on all devices using the Google account you signed up with. After re-starting your device, you will be running the beta version.
Finally, you can turn on automatic updates, as follow:
Open Google Play.
Tap the icon with three horizontal lines on the top-left.
Tap Settings.
Tap Auto-update apps.
Additionally, if you haven't already, I encourage you to download our free trial version and experiment with the program. You can download the trial version of Moneydance from our website on this page.
The trial version is fully functional and allows you to manually enter 100 transactions. Imported transactions are not limited, so you'll be able to fully test downloading data from your bank, and importing data from other personal finance software.
If you decide to purchase the program at a later date you can keep all data you have entered during the trial period.
You can find the Moneydance knowledge base here which will be useful if you're using the program for the first time. I'd be happy to provide guidance if you have any questions or need assistance getting setup.
Lastly, for further information about "Syncing with the Mobile App" please refer to this article of the Knowledge base.
I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions or need more assistance.

Hi Maddy,
Thank you for the quick and detailed response. I used the link and signed
up as a beta tester. However once at the beta tester page, it says I must
download the public version first and then it will be automatically updated
to the beta version. But as I mentioned in my previous email, my original
problem is the google play store will not allow me to download the current
public version (still says this app isn't available for my device because
it was made for an older version of Android). So I am still not able to
download the current version. Is there a way to get the beta version
without first installing the current public version?
Thanks for your help,
Jeff

Simply try uninstalling the app, and restart your phone!
Allow a moment and try again using this link. Scroll down and choose Beta Sign Up.
It should definitely work.
Please let us know if the issue persists, Jeff.

Unfortunately this is what is being reported from other new users as well.
You won't be able to instal the existing Android mobile app until a new update is released.
Please be assured that the new Android mobile app release is imminent.
I flagged this thread and we will notify you as soon as the update is released.
I'm sorry I couldn't offer more help today.

I am not support staff, just a user.
Hi Ben
I am testing the Android Alpha build 20250309. I am testing this synced to a restored backup of my real Data Set on my laptop. It’s still has a few bugs which I have reported and am waiting for Sean the developer to release the next Alpha builds to test.
But there is progress.
Have Fun Stay Safe.

Hi Derek
Thanks. So sounds like I need to wait a bit. Hopefully not too long. B
