Import from Microsoft Money

Yesterday I got instructions on how to export data from Microsoft Money (2004 version) to this trial version of Moneydance. I go through the instructions you sent me and when I appear to be finished I get a message from Microsoft Money to say the data has been exported but It doesn't appear in my trial version of Moneydance. Is there something I can do to fix this?

   I'm assuming you have completed the exporting of Microsoft Money raw transaction data into multiple QIF files.

   These are intermediate files, not Moneydance files, it is actually a Quicken format, but a Quicken format that other programs can read and process.

   The next part ot the process is to import these files into Moneydance.

   MS Money tells me it has successfully exported the file but Moneydance says an error occurred because it is an unknown file type

   The file extension should be .qif and they should be text files. So you can open them in an editor and have a look, post say the first dozen lines and we can tell if it is a valid QIF file

   You can use something like Notepad on Windows or even a word processor like Word to open QIF files and look at their contents since QIF files are just text files, but thye are text files with a very defined structure.
