MoneyDance (v 2015.5 (1225)).<br>
20+ years of data in Quicken.<br>
The "Possible Problems" page lists an issue: "I am getting extra
transactions in MD on transactions that are splits and the split
includes a transfer to another account and there was more than one
entry for that account in the split."<br>
It cites upgrading to MD2011r2 as the fix.<br>
I have a large number of these extra transactions (many dozens?
hundreds?) in MD after importing the QIF. Finding & deleting
all the added transactions manually would be a prohibitively slow
and painful process.<br>
I followed the single-QIF-file process described in <a href="https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/kb/importing-data-from-banks-and-other-programs/how-can-i-transfer-my-data-from-quicken-into-moneydance">
https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/kb/importing-data-from-banks-and...</a>
.<br>
Is this issue thought to be completely fixed? Can this not be
solved algorithmically? Any suggestions for how to proceed?</p></div>Gaylontag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/375207712015-07-30T16:21:18Z2015-07-30T16:21:18ZQkn to MD - extra transactions on splits with multi entries for same account<div><p>Hi Gaylon,</p>
<p>I'd recommend going to File -> New and creating a new data
set, then attempting to import your QIF file with these
instructions:</p>
<p><a href="https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/kb/importing-data-from-banks-and-other-programs/importing-data-from-quicken-in-qif-format">
https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/kb/importing-data-from-banks-and...</a></p>
<p>and see if that works better for you. QIF files have a variety
of quirks and limitations, but those instructions seem to generally
work the best.</p>

versus my previous import was that the previous import was my first
time running MD so it guided me into importing the QIF file to get
started, whereas this time, I did "go to File->New and select
the "Minimal Account Set," then in the menu bar go to
File->Import."<br>
Unsurprisingly, the end result is exactly the same, with all of the
same added/duplicated entries as last time.<br>
Looking at the QIF file itself, these transfer transactions seem
reasonable - I see one entry for each side of each transfer. I
don't understand why MoneyDance is being tripped up.</p></div>Gaylontag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/375207712015-07-31T15:01:59Z2015-07-31T15:01:59ZQkn to MD - extra transactions on splits with multi entries for same account<div><p>Hi Gaylon,</p>
<p>Unfortunately QIF files have a variety of quirks and
limitations, so I think you're encountering one of those with the
file that you're trying to import. This often happens with people
who have lots of historical data as you mentioned. Unfortunately
the only option is to manually correct the data.</p>
<p>I'm sorry for the inconvenience! Please let us know if we can be
of further assistance!</p>
