We have detailed instructions on moving from MS Money at http://help.infinitekind.com/kb/importing-data-from-banks-and-other.... Moneydance cannot import MS Money files directly. You will need to first export your data from MS Money into the QIF format, as the instructions describe.

Just upgraded to Windows 10 and Money will not run. This means I cannot export the data to .qif or .csv files. I therefore need an alternative that can open .mny or .mbf files natively. Any suggestions?

I am afraid there is nothing we can do to open your file. I understand that some versions of MS Money are compatible with Windows 10.

Norman,
If you Google the error, there is a fix to make Microsoft Money work on
Windows 10. It's very easy!

Hi Amber,
Could you provide a description of the error and a link to the solution so I can direct other MS Money users who have this issue.

Thanks to both of you.
I have the Microsoft Money Plus Sunset version and have tried the registry hack to change the version number of IE without success. I can only think that the fix worked OK for the beta versions of Windows 10 but not the shipping version.

Norman

Hi Norman
Just found the same issue, although I have more than 1 machine!
It is really a pain that the UK doesn't now have support for Money, although it was aging it still worked so now have to start all over!

Riccky

Just tried the registry hack again and this time it has worked.
After much searching I have found this works for me
MS Money (MoneyDlxSunset) has worked with following registry change.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Internet Explorer]
"Version"="9.11.10240.0" (originally: 9.11.10240.16384)
I'm not sure about side effect by this change. registry change is at own risk.
Would a moderator please remove my signature from the previous message. (I replied using an email response and didn’t notice.

Don't have that specific registry entry I only have Internet - Version Vector with following values: Default (Value not set), IE 9.0000, VML 1.0!
Any thoughts anyone?

Hi Riccky B,
When you reach [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Internet Explorer]
Do not click the arrow in front of 'Internet Explorer'.
Click ON 'Internet Explorer'.
You'll see the 'Version' REG_SZ listed in the panel on the right.

I may have been a little premature.
The program opened and seemed OK after the registry hack but this morning all is not well.
I imported a .qif file from my bank and Money imported OK but then crashed. On re-opening Money the “Import complete” dialog box is still there but the program immediately crashes before I can select OK.
Still searching for a solution or a program that can open money files directly.
Regards,
Norman
