Reloading the initial import
I just started my trial version and I need to make changes in QB to avoid some errors. How can I get to the page which displays when you first open MD?

WOW! I thought I actually found maybe another way. Under FILE clicking on open+other allowed me to name a fresh file. Would this accomplish the same once I did the import?
Thanks for the very quick response.

Rather than File->Open->Open Other... you could use File->New... to create a new file.

I am converting from Quicken 2008 and I hope you can answer another question which is really troubling. Q uses the DivX specification only while MD also uses a Div. The problem that occurs is that the running cash balance in the portfolio register does not update if DivX is used. Is there an easy way to circumvent this problem? There are also strange entries generated when the Q Misc is used but there are few of those that exist and I think I will be able to fix those.
Thanks,
Dave

Moneydance has an investment transaction DivXfr which should be the same as DivX

Sorry my mistake, I should have said DivXfr which in the transaction shows Div under the check# field. This is the entry that causes the problem I described.

If you manually change the action to DivXfr does it fix the issue.

The Quicken DivX transaction is translated by MD to DivXfr. Actually when the DivXfr is changed to Div the running cash total is updated. To do this with the number of years and number of accounts is not feasible which is why I asked about a workaround.

I am not certain I fully understand the issue you are having.
You say that the DivX transactions transfered into Moneydance as a DivXfr. That should like that is correct. Can you clarify what is the problem with the DivXfr transaction in Moneydance.

Basically the problem is that in Q DivX refers to cash transfer into the same account so when it is translated it should be a Div so that the function is the same.
While it would be nice if MD worked that way at present since it causes the running balance in the transaction register to be blank. This is not a deal killer it's just that I loose the information in the register of the transactions prior to the switch. Future entries will be Div which will keep the running balance correct once the previous total balance is entered. I may have additional information regarding another possible improvement if you are interested.
I should mention that there were an incredible amount of errors in totals from Q to MD. All the checking we have done to resolve these points to the problem with Q. There are numerous explanations that apply which are not only inexplainable but also iinconsistent.
So far looks like Md will be a good replacement for problem ridden Quicken. We will be on an extended trip so we will not be able to continue our anticipated conversion till we come back.
Thanks for your help,
Dave
PS: I hope reports can be modified to be more professional looking. Also I noticed that not all reports we tried so far are able to provide sub-totals which is extremely important.
