Hi, can Moneydance convert a Quicken file so we don't have to start from scratch?
And does Moneydance do everything Quicken does only better? :)
Thanks, Rick

    Hi Rick,

You can import your Quicken data into Moneydance, but you'll have to export the data out of Quicken first. Quicken stores it's data in what's called a QDF file. QDF is a proprietary data format owned by Intuit. Moneydance can not import QDF files. However, it is possible to export your data out of Quicken into QIF format and then import the QIF file into Moneydance.

Please visit this page for more information on importing data from other programs.

Have you had a chance to look through the Moneydance User's Guide? If you haven't already, then I highly recommend checking it out. You can find our user's guide on this page.

I also recommend checking out our knowledge base. There you will be able to find many helpful articles about the various aspects of using Moneydance.

    Hi Rick,

One more thing: If you haven't already, I encourage you to download our free trial version and experiment with the program before you decide if you would like to purchase it. The demo version is fully functional and allows you to manually enter 100 transactions. Imported transactions are not limited, so you'll be able to fully test connections with your bank. If you decide to purchase the program at a later date you can keep all your data, the license key simply unlocks the ability to manually enter more transactions. You can download the trial version of Moneydance from here:

For more information on how to get the most out of your trial period, check out our blog post on the subject.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance, and thank you for your interest in Moneydance!
