I am not exactly sure what you mean by "multiple account
groups". Moneydance lets you create a parent account and then set
that account as the parent of other account essentially creating a
group.

I looked up what iBank "smart accounts" are and I can confirm
that Moneydance does not have such a feature.

Could you explain what you would use a smart account for?

If you haven't already, I encourage you to download our free
trial version and experiment with the program before you decide if
you would like to purchase it. The demo version is fully functional
and allows you to manually enter 100 transactions. Imported
transactions are not limited, so you'll be able to fully test
connections with your bank. If you decide to purchase the program
at a later date you can keep all your data, the license key simply
unlocks the ability to manually enter more transactions. You can
download the trial version of Moneydance from here:

The parent child accounts you mentioned are the start of a
hierarchy that we use to create our financial reports. How many
levels of the hierarchy does the program support? In your terms,
does the program support great
grandparent/grandparent/parent/child, etc?

Thank you for your assistance.

idea of the specifics of how you are using this I can better advise
if our reporting structure will work.
