I've been using the mobile app for a while on my iPad and iPhone, with Dropbox sync. If I download the Mac desktop app now, how do I get it to import my checking account info that's already in the cloud?

    Hi Derek,

Have you already configured your iPad and iPhone to sync to a Moneydance data set on your computer?

The short of it is this: I was syncing with the iphone, iPad via dropbox. Now with the desktop added in, I can't figure out how to configure the mobile devices to sync to the dataset.

I'd like to suggest that you obtain the desktop app of Moneydance direct from Infinitekind as opposed to obtaining from Apple's App Store.

Primary reasoning: The release at Apple's App Store is majorly crippled compared to the release driect from Infinitekind.

    Hi Derek,
Do I understand you correctly that you were only using the Mobile app and did not use the desktop program at all, prior to now?
    Thanks.

That's where I got it. And no. I briefly used the trial version of the desktop app on my macbook air, but deleted it when I got the mini. I want to add the existing account, which is synced across the iphone and ipad, to the desktop app.

Again, I'm using the app downloaded from the infinitekind site.

    Hi Derek,

Do you have a data file that you were using on the Macbook Air that you originally started syncing with your Apple iDevices? The Moneydance iOS apps aren't designed as stand-alone apps in the way it sounds like you were using them, so we may have to take some care to ensure that your data doesn't get erased when trying to sync them to the desktop

    Hi Derek,

Unfortunately, because of that, you're going to have to manually enter your transactions from your iDevice (since they themselves have been synchronizing, it only has to be from one of them) into a new data set on Moneydance, as the iOS app is configured to specifically sync to certain accounts in a Moneydance data set and since the accounts in a new data set won't have the same specific unique identifier as the ones that your iOS apps were originally configured with, you won't be able to sync them to a new file.

Sorry I don't have better news!
