my wife and I have one Moneydance account that includes six sub accounts (HSA accounts, a money market account, regular checking, my wife's business checking, etc. We sync using dropbox connection. We keep all the sub accounts in one "account" because they are all relevant to our joint tax return. I see posts from some years ago saying only one user can add/modify data to the "account" at a time. Is that still the case with 2019.3 (1881)? My wife only wants to manipulate her business checking and I never work in that one. Can she manipulate her business checking sub account at the same time that I modify the regular checking subaccount? Or is this still a no no? Thanks.

    I'm a fellow user.

With Moneydance 2015 and earlier in order to "share" Moneydance data between users the method employed was to move the data set to the Dropbox folder and to open the data from there. In this configuration it was necessary to limit usage to one user at a time, since there is no way of block or record locking in personal computer systems and having more than one user access the same data set simultaneously could easily cause data corruption.

Moneydance 2017 saw the introduction of an internal syncing engine. The first result of this is that the previous method of putting the data set into the Dropbox folder is no longer supported and in fact doing this could easily cause data corruption. What happens now is that each machine has a local copy of the data set that the user works on and the syncing engine works through Dropbox Connection/Dropbox Folder or Shared Folder to pass transactions updates to each machine which are applied to the local data under control of the Moneydance software.

The method used avoids the problem of data corruption that was present in the old approach for multi-user access, thus each user can now work independently and concurrently on the data.

So under Moneydance 2017 & 2019 using the Moneydance syncing engine all users can be concurrently working on the data.

I am not support staff, just a user.
    Hi jake

Just to add if you have not already set up syncing see this set of articles on how to set up syncing

Also, you should ensure all your computers are running the same version/build of Moneydance.

The version/build you quote is 2019.3(1881), as far as I known has never existed.
At time of post last release is 2019.3(1880) from last preview is 2019.4(1897)from

    Hope this helps.
