Invalid Data During Download Process
Each time I do a manual download from my bank, I get invalid data, that is not coming from my bank. When I first started using Monydance, I first downloaded my data from Quicken and then later deleted a lot of this data due to the slow lag time I was experiencing. Now when I do a manual download from my bank, the data from the bank comes over correctly, but, I also get several incorrect items that appear to be coming from some where else. I have tried confirming and then deleting the items, but the show up again the next time I do the download. Is there a way to eliminate these transactions, or should I just save this file and then start over again with a new clean file?
I am using MoneyDance version 2019.3 on a Windows 10 computer.

Hi tross45
I think for support or other to be able to help you will need to provide more information.
1. When you manually download from you bank what is the file type, e.g. OFX, QFX or QIF?
2. Can you define and give examples of what you mean by “several incorrect items that appear to be coming from somewhere else”?
3. are these items duplicates of transaction that were imported from Quicken?
4. Have you opened the downloaded file in a text editor to determine if in fact these item are included in the file you have downloaded from your bank?

I am downloading the QFX file.
Examples: Shelter insurance for $300 or $30.00, when I have had no payments for these amounts.
I don't know if these items are duplicates from Quicken, but I do suspect that they are.
I have not opened the downloaded file to see if the errors were in the downloaded file. I will try to do this.

Hi tross45
As you are importing a OFX file the following is worth knowing.
OFX/QFX files should contain a "Unique Transaction ID" (FITID) for each transaction. Moneydance uses this ID to prevent duplicates.
The following is an extract of one transaction from my credit card downloaded OFX file. Note the FITID number.
DEBIT
20190806000000
It does not matter how many times you import this file into Moneydance the transaction only appears once.
Also, If you right click on a transaction imported via an OFX file and select “Show transaction details” it should include the FITID
The QIF file specifications do not include the equivalent to FITID and thus you can get duplicates on importing if transitions already exist in Moneydance.
If you are setting up Moneydance and have imported your initial QIF file and then either import a second QIF file or OFX/QFX file from your bank which contains duplicates these duplicates will appear in Moneydance. If the duplicates were due to an OFX/QFX files import its important to delete the QIF file duplicates thus leaving the FITID transaction in tack. This will prevent duplicates on the next OFX/QFX files import.
Hope this helps.

I reviewed my QFX file and did not see any of the incorrect data in that file. It may to be coming from the data that I deleted from MoneyDance.
The following is the data I see when I click on Show Transaction Detail. It looks a little different the the info posted above.

Hi tross45
The info I posted was from the OFX file.
After import clicking “Show transaction details” give:
