The question is this: how do you reconcile bank statements if the balance is spread across multiple accounts in Quicken? At least the "future transaction" method keeps it all there. Are there subaccounts, similar to subcategories?

Do alternatives like MoneyDance and Countabout allow postdated entries in bank accounts? This is essential when entering payments that have been scheduled online for a later processing date.

Quicken allows this feature and many of us are switching to MoneyDance, and need to know if that is available.

maniwartag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/430967502017-08-02T23:03:37Z2017-08-02T23:03:37ZCan MonedyDance Do Postdated Entries in Bank Accounts

Hi maniwar,

If I have understood your question correctly, you can indeed enter transactions in the account registers for a date in the future.

Can you please explain how that would be done?

maniwartag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/430967502017-08-02T23:40:53Z2017-08-02T23:40:53ZCan MonedyDance Do Postdated Entries in Bank Accounts

Well, I may be misunderstanding some complexity in your question, but when you enter a transaction you can choose whatever date you like for the transaction. I often enter transactions for things like tax payments that will occur months in the future.

I can then do a cashflow forecast to see how that transaction affects my future balance.

I can also choose whether to display the 'Balance' (including future transactions) or the 'Current Balance' (excluding future transactions) on the Account summary screen.

I had a quick read of the thread that you linked to and there was some talk of being able to set money aside in subaccounts. This is also a feature that Moneydance has.

Hope that helps. Happy to answer any more questions if I can.

Cheers,
