<p>I would suggest sticking with the Old Mixed-Interval style for now. Still many issues with the new budget. I reported the delay on the new style recently which they have reported to the developer, so maybe we'll see a fix shortly. The old style just beats the new style in every way. The only benefit I'm aware of on the new style is the ability to roll over and under budget amounts to the new period. Otherwise the old style is better in many ways.</p></div>mhoggietag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/480958722020-02-19T18:24:47Z2020-02-19T18:24:49ZNewer Budget 'glitches'<div><p>Hello. I also just upgraded from v2017 to the current 2019.3(1880) and I'm having some difficulty. I don't know if the layout has changed, or if I'm just confusing myself, but I cannot seem to find where to enter my monthly budget amounts by category. I am looking at a window for my "2020 budget" showing all of my categories in the LH column, a 3-month view as 3 more columns, and, in each month column (for each category), two numbers expressed as "0 of 0.00". The second number field is input-capable, and as displayed, I assume it is designed to contain the budgeted amount for that category and month, and the first field the total category expenses entered as transactions. I guess I could enter the budget for each category every month, but that seems faintly ridiculous, and I'm sure I did not do that last year. I seem to recall that I was able to (somewhere) enter a flat monthly budgeted amount for each category once, and that was applied to my category expenses when reported. However, for whatever reasons (application changes or my poor memory/incompetence) I cannot seem to find that mode of entry now. If it matters for the purposes of this question, I have been using a "mixed period" budget. I'm posting a public case for this and asking fellow users for help, because I had little luck posting a confidential case for another issue a couple of months ago (I did ultimately resolve that one myself). Many thanks in advance for any assistance you choose to provide.</p></div>samou812tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/480958722020-02-19T20:51:44Z2020-02-19T20:51:44ZNewer Budget 'glitches'<div><p>just a user,</p>
<p>You're describing the new style default budget with the 3 month view. When you create your budget, use the Period drop down to select the Mixed Interval Old Style then you can edit as you have in the past and set amounts that stay fixed indefinitely or for what every date range you choose.</p></div>mhoggietag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/480958722020-03-10T14:57:22Z2020-03-10T14:57:23ZNewer Budget 'glitches'<div><p>I found what I needed to do to implement your recommendation, and it worked. Thanks! I give the program kudos on ease of transaction entry, I only wish I found some of the other functions as intuitive...<br>
I have another issue, but will post a new case.</p></div>samou812
