you would need to create specific expense categories related to specific account. You can create unlimited categories and arrange them as needed. I have a special root category named "Budget" and I add all my budget related categories under that heading. You could do the same with additional sub categories for each account.

mhoggietag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/493520452021-08-23T21:50:19Z2021-08-23T21:50:24ZBudgeting expenses against income

Hi.
It's simply creating additional categories and grouping them to identify the purpose. You could do the same with all the expense categories you might use in a specific account and just use them within that account for budgeting purposes. Otherwise when you use any default categories across multiple accounts, there would be no way to budget those categories against just one account. Yes you can do that in reports, but budgeting doesn't have a per account filter so you need to create a special group of categories to use within the budgeted account so you can only pick that activity up on your budget. You could actually create a base category for every account and duplicate all expense categories below that base. There is no limit on how many categories you can have. It's fully customizable. Here is a image of my budget related categories I set up so I could certain account payments

mhoggietag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/493520452021-08-25T13:14:57Z2021-08-25T13:14:59ZBudgeting expenses against income

Thanks this is useful.

Simon Smith
