New Style budget: Subcategory Totaling issue
Hi, why don't the subcategory amounts contribute to the parent category total? For example, if under the parent category of Bills, I spend $30 on Electric, $100 on water, etc, the Bills parent category should reflect $130 amount correct?
See screenshot for example.

Hi T Eanes,
Thank you for the screenshot.
It is my experience that the parent category does indeed display the total of the underlying child categories.
Perhaps the 'Total' column is collapsed or obscured. Try widening the Category window.

Hi Kevin, thanks for the response. You are correct that in the Categories menu itself, the parent does show the total of the child items. However, in the budgeting menu, it does not. Is this by design? See new image.
Thanks

Hi Kevin,
TBH, I don't really use budgeting and to the extent that I do, I use the old-style budget.
From your screenshot and from tinkering a little with the new-style budget, I would agree with you that the parent category does 'not' reflect the total of the underlying child categories - but should.
IMO, this represents a bug that you've discovered in the budget.
I will yield to the Moneydance support staff to provide further assistance.

Is that something I need to formally submit?

Hi,
We are sorry to hear about the problem you have encountered.
Which version and build of Moneydance are you using?
To check, open Moneydance and select Help --> About Moneydance
Can you let me know which operating system you're running on your computer?
Are you experiencing the same issue with both budget styles?
Thank you

Hi Maddy
Version is: 2024.4 (5253)
I wasn't aware of the other budget style, so I haven't tried it. I will try it and update here.
Thanks

Yes, it appears that the Mixed Interval style budget does use the parent total. Any chance of getting this functionality in the 'New" budget style?
