Help me understand the interactions between date/intervals and budget bar status (colors)

Depending on the date and/or intervals used for a particular budget category I can get a green status for year to date report and red status for last month.

For example, I have a budget of $200 for Garden Supplies set as annual interval (not prorated). The start date and end dates are 1/1/26 and 12/31/26. I've spent $50 so far in that budget category. If I view it as Year to Date, then it is green as expected. If I change the budget view to Last Month it is red. This is confusing. I would expect it to be green as well.

What am I doing wrong? or what am I not understanding about budgets? I admit that as a long time Quicken user it is quite different.
