Hello,

Sorry if I'm missing something obvious, but can you tell me please how I can include the initial balance on my bank account as income available for budgeting during the first month. I've just returned to Moneydance and have decided to set everything up from scratch.

Thanks & regards

Sorry, the reply didn't help - I know how to set the initial balance, but not how to include it as income available to budget.

    Hi Chris,

Categories don't have initial balances, since they are just used to categorise income and expenses. Only actual accounts have initial balances, which are set within Account --> Edit Account.

You could remove the initial balance from the 'Edit Account' window, and create relevant transactions to total this amount, assigned to an 'Initial Balance' category. You can create this category within Tools --> Categories. This category can then be used in your budget.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let me know if you have any questions.
