Just noticed that the "choose separate folder" function in the backup preferences does not work on my Win7 64bit system (latest win and Java updates). You can select the function (via checkbox), but the "choose" button does nothing.

When you say the choose button does nothing do you mean that you do not see the file picker dialogue when you click the choose button? If this is the case I have not been able to reproduce the problem. It might be the case that the file picker window is being rendered off screen. Have you previously used a dual monitor setup with this system?

Clicking the button causes it to darken (normal click feedback I assume), but then no Windows file picker (as you call it) window shows, even after long wait.

I will check, but it is unlikely the file picker is opening off-screen. My system is not, and never has been, set up for dual monitors. In addition, the initial MD new/existing file chooser box (and the initial windows of all my other app's) opens at the center of my screen.

BTW, I also noticed that a "save as" operation does not work. The file picker shows, and will allow navigation to any directory, but will not write. When I saw it, I worked around it by just copying and pasting. Now, I wonder if there could be a connection.

I have noticed some confusion between 32bit and 64bit Java's on other Windows 7 64bit systems (at work) so will check to see if I have both 64bit and 32bit Java installed. MD did install, and is, in the X86 Program Files directory. Assuming I have both Java's installed, are there any config files that should be checked to see if they are pointing to the correct version?

Can you run the console window and then try this again. To run the console window run Moneydance and select Help->Console Window. If you get any error messages please copy them here.

With regards to the Save As... are yor specifying a file name. The save As function will not save with out a file name.

I have found the problem and it was myself and Windows.

I moved my profile off the "system drive" a few weeks ago and, since things appeared to be working, did not notice that Windows had not linked to it properly (neither the ".moneydance" or "appdata directories). I fixed the linkage (what a hassle) and MD/Java now finds the "file picker" normally. The debug extension pointed out the problem easily when I ran it.

I made the move to make the "system drive" an SSD for speed, which it has, greatly.

Thanks for getting back to me. I'm glad you were able to fix the problem.
