We were unable to verify that People's Independent Bank does
support Direct Connect. Can you verify with your bank
representative that they have "OFX server support for direct
connections with 3rd party software?" According to Intuit's
website, they only allow for web connections (in which the
transaction history is downloaded from your bank's website).

ps.

Pay Pal only supports "Web Connect". Web Connect is a process
whereby the data is downloaded from the institution's website
(rather than directly from the bank's servers).

Quicken does this internally, but the process is essentially the
same. In both the case with Pay Pal and PIB you can
download a transaction history file from their websites and import
them into Moneydance. Many users of Moneydance have banks without
support for direct connections and update their transactions
histories by this method.

Brian Adlertag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/2063102009-06-21T06:09:04Z2009-06-21T06:09:07ZDownload from Peoples Independent Bank (USA)

Brian Adler,

Yeah sorry, That's my bad, I said Direct connect, where I meant
Web Connect.

Does Moneydance automatically update the transactions like how
Quicken does?

marcus711tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/2063102009-06-21T06:13:53Z2009-06-21T06:13:53ZDownload from Peoples Independent Bank (USA)

Marcus,

Moneydance does not have an internal browser for Web Connect. So
it is necessary to manually import your transactions from PIB's
website. Moneydance does do true Direct Connect where possible but
the download does not occur automatically. It must be initiated by
the user. In our upcoming MD 2010, this will occur automatically at
the users discretion.
