for the above institutions? Anyone had any problems?</p>

<p>I'm not a customer of any of the institutions you listed, but I
can tell you what I know right now from the support
perspective.</p>
<p>AMEX seems to be working for most folks after a recent server
update, though we have gotten reports of an error that we think we
might have fixed in an upcoming build of Moneydance.</p>
<p>PNC transaction downloads seem to work fine. However, bill pay
through PNC has been problematic for a while now and we haven't
been able to track down and fix that bug. We're working on it
though.</p>
<p>I don't recall any recently reported problems with ETrade off
the top of my head.</p>
<p>Also, if you'd like to be sure that you can connect, go ahead
and give the free trial a shot. The demo version is
fully-functional and allows you to manually enter 100 transactions.
Imported transactions are not limited. If you decide to purchase
the program at a later date you can keep all your data, the license
key simply unlocks the ability to manually enter more transactions.
For more information on how to get the most out of your trial
period, check out our <a href=
"http://moneydance.com/blog/archives/77">blog post on the
subject</a>.</p>
<p>Please let me know if I can be of further assistance, and thank
you for your interest in Moneydance!</p>

<p>I went back to Moneydance and tried the credentials that worked

<p>A couple of things you can try. First, it looks like you're
running an older version of Java, which could potentially be the
source of these errors. Try updating to Java 6 (also known as 1.6)
to see if it clears the errors. Also, make sure Quicken isn't
running while you're trying to connect in Moneydance, just in case
that's causing some kind of network conflict.</p>
<p>If that doesn't work, it would be worth telling your bank that
you're using Quicken 2008 instead of 2010. That shouldn't matter,
but it might for your bank.</p>
<p>If you still can't connect, please let me know and I'll try to
puzzle out what else might be going on. Hopefully we can get this
fixed soon!</p>

<p>Unfortunately, we've reached the limits of my knowledge of the
internals of Moneydance on this bug. I'll need to check in with
Sean (our lead developer) about it to see if he has any idea what's
going on. I'll hopefully talk to him on Monday or Tuesday and let
you know what he says. I do know, however, that the 404 error isn't
the problem. That error always comes up when you connect to a bank
because Moneydance is trying to use a feature of the Moneydance
website that Sean temporarily disabled a while back. It's not
related to the Illegal State error you are getting.</p>
<p>I'm sorry this bug is taking a while to sort out. I'll let you
know what I find out from Sean and hopefully we'll get things
working for you soon.</p>

video session with him if he needs more info and data. This is
really important as I am trying to get off of Quicken in the next
week or so. As I've not fully stated using MD and PNC bank, I have
some flexibility to play around and try some things to troubleshoot
and fix this. I'm more that happy to help you all find the root
cause of this problem.</p></div>jsfredericktag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/13593412010-04-20T13:08:34Z2010-04-20T13:08:34ZAmex CC, PNC Bank, and eTrade<div><p>Jessica,</p>
<p>Any word from Sean on this?? I really need to get this fixed. I
don't want ot ask for a refund, but I'll have to if I cannot get
this up an running soon.</p></div>jsfredericktag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/13593412010-04-20T14:52:51Z2010-04-20T14:52:51ZAmex CC, PNC Bank, and eTrade<div><p>Hi,</p>
<p>So, I talked to Sean, and he was actually aware of this bug and
believes it's fixed in the newest build of 2010 (build 748). Could
you please update to that version and let me know if it fixes the
problem? You can download the update from our website at <a href=

6. Attached are the console log files from Mac 10.5.8 running as
Java 5 and a Windows XP instance running Java 6.</p></div>jsfredericktag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/13593412010-04-20T18:00:09Z2010-04-20T18:00:09ZAmex CC, PNC Bank, and eTrade<div><p>Hi,</p>
<p>Actually, you're getting two new error messages in those logs.
It looks like the IllegalStateException is fixed, but there's a new
NullPointer bug in Java 6. I'll mention that to Sean so that he can
fix it.</p>
<p>In your Java 5 logs, it looks like you were actually able to
connect to PNC but got the "400 Bad Request" response again. Did
you ever call PNC at have them reset your account for Quicken 2008?
If not. please do so, as that might solve the problem. However, if
you're set up to connect as Quicken 2008, you're using the PIN they
sent you in the mail, and you're still getting the 400 error,
please let me know.</p>

fixed.</p>
<p>I called PNC bank and spoke to their quicken support department.
The indicate that they do not differentiate between Q2010 and Q2008
when they setup and configure the accounts. So they claim that for
their purposes either version will work as they do not pick the
version when the customer requests access to quicken.</p>
<p>I changed the default PIN that PNC sent me via quicken and am
currently able to connect with PNC via quicken an all works fine.
Using the same login credentials with MD and it does not work.</p>
<p>Is there a debug trace or other type of connection log we can
look at, or just the console log.</p></div>jsfredericktag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/13593412010-04-22T11:39:46Z2010-04-22T11:39:46ZAmex CC, PNC Bank, and eTrade<div><p>Guys!!!!! Any word on this?? You are really putting me in a

(something like 2am his time), so I pinged him for assistance. He
cheerfully worked with me via IM chat to resolve the issue. He had
to tweak the online banking configuration at the MD servers for PNC
bank.</p>
<p>I'm happy to report that I can now connect to PNC and am
downloading transactions.</p>
<p>Good by Quicken......FOREVER!!!</p>

<p>Sorry didn't get back to you sooner, but I'm glad Sean was able
to help you. I looked at what he did, and it's definitely something
I couldn't have fixed without him.</p>

<p>I know you all are busy with the release of MD2010 and the

fixed the problem in short order.</p>
