<p>It's almost certainly true that Moneydance uses a different set
of login credentials than Quicken Bill Pay. Most financial
institutions will require you to enable your accounts for
application-based online banking. You can accomplish this by asking
your bank to set up your account for connections from Quicken.
Moneydance uses exactly the same OFX server connection protocol as
Quicken but your bank representative may not know this and
mistakenly believe that they do not support Moneydance. Calling up
your bank and stating precisely the following should get you
started. "Please enable direct connect on my account such that I
can connect to your servers directly with Quicken. Also give me the
login credentials I need to connect Quicken to this service."</p>
<p>Application-based online banking often requires a different
login/PIN than the ones that are used for ATM or web-based banking.
When you enable your account for access from Moneydance or Quicken,
your financial institution should let you know what customer
ID/login and PIN to use.</p>
<p>Please let me know if I can be of further assistance, and thanks
for your interest in Moneydance!</p>

Your reply to Doug was helpful. Has there been any confirmation on
this yet? I am thinking of switching to Moneydance (from iBank for
Mac) SPECIFICALLY for the integrated bill pay.</p>
<p>I just got off the phone to Bank of America (California) and
their stance was the one you predicted .... "your bank
representative may not know this and mistakenly believe that they
do not support Moneydance."</p>
<p>Indeed the rep told me "only Quicken and Microsoft Money", which
basically are the two products that have ABANDONED their
customers.</p></div>Glenn Emightag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/13887172010-05-19T15:43:24Z2010-05-19T15:43:24ZSetup problems with online bill pay from BofA (Other states)<div><p>Hi Glenn,</p>
<p>A number of our support staff bank with BoA and use Moneydance,
so we know it's possible. You have to tell them to set up your
account for connections from Quicken. once that's done, you should
be able to connect. Don't mention Moneydance at all, or they will
just give you the "only Quicken and Microsoft Money" response. Some
banks will help you out anyway, but BoA is especially bad about
immediately shutting down at any mention of any non-Quicken/Money
product.</p>
<p>Good luck! Hopefully you'll be able to convince them to let you
connect.</p>

<p>This "Quicken only" is the same song-and-dance I've gotten from
calling several banks.</p>
<p>I'm thinking about opening an on-line bank account (my first
choice: Charles Schwab Bank) and trying Moneydance with that first.
If that works, I may not only shed the iBank software, but also
Bank of America. iBank has been hinting for years that they will
add on-line bill pay to their features, but its never
happened.'</p>

<p>We've had troubles connecting to Schwab bank in the past, but
those seem to have ironed out recently. A lot of customers seem
generally happy with them and using Moneydance with them. Hopefully
it'll work for you. Definitely let me know if you have any trouble
connecting, as we'd really like to make sure that connection works
now.</p>
