Unfortunately, BoA of Washington State does not support direct OFX connections, which Moneydance (and other financial software) requires in order to talk directly to a bank. The best way to get your transactions into Moneydance is to use a web browser to download them from your bank's web site. You can download into QIF, QFX, OFX or OFC files (aka Quicken or MS Money files), any of which will import cleanly into Moneydance.

If your bank begins to support direct OFX connections in the future, we will be happy to work with them.

Quicken and Money support two methods of accessing your accounts: direct connect and web connect. With web connect, they basically connect to your bank's website and download and import OFX, QFX, QIF, and OFC files. Direct connect actually connects to a server at your bank instead of their website and usually requires different login credentials than you would use to log into your banks website. From a user's perspective these two processes look basically identical, and it is through web connect that BoA of Washington State connects to Quicken and Quickbooks. Moneydance only supports automatic connections through direct connect and not web connect.

We are looking into the possibility of offering web connect but its all a bit of a daunting process, especially determining a method that meets our high standards of quality and security. We have a tentative plan and rough timeline, and hope to be able to implement this service in the next year or so. We will keep the Moneydance community updated about new developments in web connect for Moneydance.

As for how to get older records- nearly all banks support downloads of older records in either OFX, QFX, QIF, or OFC files. Generally these files are available through your bank's website.

I'm sorry I don't have a more optimistic response for your connection to BoA, but do let me know if I can be of further assistance,

When I requested electronic statements, they informed me that they only keep records on microfilm and destroy all electronic records after one month! This means that if you forget to update your moneydance files, you have to have a statement mailed or faxed to you and then use an optical scanner (or type) for input.

Wow, Washington state sure is different than Virginia! I'm a BoA customer and I can download the past year's information in several file formats. I'm sorry to hear that you won't be able to download files in this format, hopefully in the future they might be willing to support this function. Good luck, and please let me know if I can be of further assistance,
