Hello

I am trying to set up Online Banking with a US Bank credit card.
When I go to choose the Financial Institution the only option it gives me is US Bank PFM Direct Connect.
I called US Bank and they said I should be using US Bank Internet Banking and not PFM Direct Connect.

But the internet banking is not an option on the list of financial institutions. Is there some other name for this or I am not seeing it? Can you please help me add this to the list so I can set it up?

Thanks
Pushpam

    Hi Pushpam,

Many financial institutions will require you to enable your accounts for application-based online banking. You can accomplish this by asking your bank to set up your account for direct connections from Quicken. Moneydance uses exactly the same OFX server connection protocol as Quicken but your bank representative may not know this and mistakenly believe that you can not connect in Moneydance. Calling up your bank and stating precisely the following should get you started. "Please enable direct connect on my account such that I can connect to your servers directly with Quicken. Also give me the login credentials I need to connect Quicken to this service."

Application-based online banking often requires a different login/PIN than the ones that are used for ATM or web-based banking. When you enable your account for access from Moneydance or Quicken, your financial institution should let you know what customer ID/login and PIN to use.

Here's a link to the page on US Bank's website that will allow you to enable direct connect with US Bank:

    https://www.usbank.com/cgi_w/cfm/ubank_online/quicken.cfm.

Your UserID will be your SSN, and US Bank will contact you with the PIN.

Hope this helps, and feel free to contact me with any questions about this process!

    Hi David

I have actually spent a lot of time researching this online and also
    searched through your help blogs.

I followed the instructions on here and specifically called US Bank, and
three transfer laters I did get the right answer.

The instructions you have in this thread about setting up a separate
account with US Bank apply to the "bank account" and not the credit card
account. The US Bank woman explained to me that for a credit card account
the financial institution I need to choose is US Bank Internet Bank and not
US Bank PFM Direct Connect (which is the option for the "bank account" and
is on the financial institution list.

Is there anyway I can manually add the US Bank Internet Bank?

    Thanks
    Pushpam

    Hi Pushpam,

It sounds like the support person you were talking to was referring to "Web Connect" instead of "Direct Connect". For US Bank, the only "Direct Connect" connection is the one that David specified above. According to our records, that connection supports credit card accounts as well.

Have you tried to follow David's instructions and use the "US Bank PFM Direct Connect" connection to see if that works?

OK that's what I thought, that if there were a 2nd financial institution
available on the list I would have seen it (US Bank PFM Direct Connect is
the only one available and there isn't a US Bank Internet Bank).

I did follow the instructions from David and that is how I ended up with
the support team at US Bank.

When I spoke to the support person I explained to her and she was rather
emphatic that I need to choose US Internet Bank in the list of financial
    institutions.

For now I can manually download it from the website rather than using
    Direct Connect.

    Thanks for your help
