Chase Bank no longer supports QIF file format?
Chase now only supports OFX file for Microsoft Money, Quicken,
or Quickbooks, version 2005 or newer.
When I tried to select the QIF file format, I got this error:
JPMC-4.QIF. Couldn’t open the file. It may be corrupt or a
file format that Preview doesn’t recognize.
These are the choices that Chase displays on their dropwdown:
Quicken QIF, Quickbooks IIF, Microsoft Money, CSV, Quicken Web
Connect QFX, Quickbooks Web Connect QBO. Please tell me what to do
since I really need to download my bank transactions for income tax
purpose. Thanks.

Chase Bank supports the Direct Connect feature at a cost of $9.99 per month.
I know because my financial institution is Chase Bank.

I don't have $9.99 a month to spend to just get the download. Is there another way to download using another file format mentioned in my original email and then convert it into Money Dance? Ugh! I don't want to switch to another money management software. I like Money Dance.

"a file format that Preview doesn’t recognize"?
Are you trying to open a QIF file with Preview?
You ought to be choosing File then Import the QIF file directly into Moneydance .
You can also File/Import OFX files.

I agree with James it definitely sounds like you are trying to open the QIF file with a program called "Preview" instead of Moneydance.
Given the choice you should download and import OFX or QFX instead of QIF. They are far superior formats that make it much easier for Moneydance to remove duplicates.

Rather than pay $9.99 a month to Chase Bank, try iCreateOFX Basic from a princely £ 9.99 for a lifetime license converting CSV and QIF to OFX.

The poster Tuyet Cong-Ton-Nu said in the original post that OFX and QFX are available for download from Chase. They have no need for a tool to convert csv to OFX.

You have missed the point by a mile Ben.
The poster suggested he does NOT want to stomach the $9.99 monthly charge for OFX downloads from Chase, thus my suggestion for a clearly more palatable converter for a lifetime license from £9.99 (assuming Chase do not charge for CSV downloads too!)
Get it now?

While OFX direct connect may cost a service fee, you may be able to download an OFX file from Chase's website for free and import it into Moneydance.

Tuyet / Ben and all.
I actually ended up suggesting the wrong product. I have just been back on their site and the product for Investment / Brokerage OFX Conversion is iCreateOFX Investment. I have used it for the last couple of weeks, principally because my brokers do not provide OFX downloads, and since I increased the number of trades I carry out, got fed up with manually entering them into my PFM.
tuyet / james - can you confirm Chase offers free OFX downloads?

I use chase online and under products and services there is an option for downloading account activity.
