Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that your bank supports direct
OFX connections, which Moneydance (and other financial software)
requires in order to talk directly to a bank. The best way to get
your transactions into Moneydance is to use a web browser to
download them from your bank's web site. You can download into QFX,
OFX or OFC files (aka Quicken or MS Money files), any of which will
import cleanly into Moneydance.

If your bank begins to support direct OFX connections in the
future, we will be happy to work with them.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance, and thank
you for your interest in Moneydance.

supposed to work. I'm 99% certain that Quicken users can d/l
transaction data and u/l online payments at DSB without going
through DSB's web site. Isnt this direct OFX connect? If it can be
done with Quicken, cant the basic connection data be used to do the
same thing by MD?......Mark

liptaktag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/44088152010-12-26T00:32:04Z2010-12-26T01:02:00ZDirect OFX with Danvers Savings Bank

You are downloading and uploading info to/from DSB using a
connection called Web Connect. A feature found in Quicken.

With Web Connect, Quicken seamlessly connects to DSB via DSB's
web site. It is done in the background so that you are none the
wiser as to how Quicken is connecting to DSB.

Best way to find out if you are, in fact, using Web Connect or
Direct Connect is to do the following:
1. Check to see if you are being billed monthly for the use of the
Direct Connect feature offered by DSB. Most FI charge a monthly fee
for the luxury of using Direct Connect.
2. Tell the DSB representative that you are using Quicken and that
you would like to use Direct Connect to download and upload your
account info . Note DSB's response.
3. In Quicken, go to Account Overview, click on Options, then
select View Account List. It will give you information about your
account, there is a column headed by Transaction Download. That
column will tell you whether you are using Direct Connect or Web
Connect.

james ftag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/44088152010-12-26T01:00:20Z2010-12-26T01:00:20ZDirect OFX with Danvers Savings Bank

Thanks James, is that something proprietary to Quicken or can
any package like MD use the capability if configured with the right

personally do not know of any package other than Quicken that uses

That said, there has been some talk, by support team at MD, that
MD is looking into implementing Web Connect feature in some future
version of MD.

james ftag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/44088152010-12-26T01:25:35Z2010-12-26T01:25:35ZDirect OFX with Danvers Savings Bank

Check out the following discussion about Web Connect:

my bank at this point? Or is there some way to engage them to allow
a path into their server to d/l data directly? I have made a
contact with their online banking manager. Could someone at MD get
with her to work a resolution? Or is there more to it than
that?

liptaktag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/44088152010-12-26T01:49:49Z2010-12-26T01:49:49ZDirect OFX with Danvers Savings Bank

Mark,

Quicken and Money support two methods of accessing your
accounts: direct connect and web connect. With web connect, they
basically connect to your bank's website and download and import
OFX, QFX, QIF, and OFC files. Direct connect actually connects to a
server at your bank instead of their website and usually requires
different login credentials than you would use to log into your
banks website. Moneydance only supports automatic connections
through direct connect and not web connect. You can still download
OFX, QFX, QIF, and OFC files files from your bank and import them,
but there's currently no way to do this automatically from within
Moneydance.

For us to support direct connections with your bank, they would
need to purchase and maintain a direct OFX connection server. If
they do so we would be delighted to set up a connection with
them.

We are looking into the possibility of offering web connect, and
we will keep the Moneydance community updated about new
developments in web connect for Moneydance.

they have a direct connect server. If so, I'll connect them with
you folks. If not, I'm probably going to shift accounts to TD Bank.
I have one acct with them now and once you get used to direct
connect there's really no reason to be juggling multiple qif files
through a web d/l. Thanks for the info.

BTW, I have been using MD for two months now, keeping abut 10
accts in it. Its a big change from MS Money, but I have to say I'm
preferring most of its features to the old MS software. Plus,
support on Christmas day.....thats dedication......Mark

liptaktag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/44088152010-12-26T02:06:49Z2010-12-26T02:06:49ZDirect OFX with Danvers Savings Bank

Mark,
