I can't say for certain but Fidelity Investments may require that
the account that you are setting up in Moneydance be of the type
Investment. Not Credit Card.
Try creating an Investment Account in Moneydance and run the 'Set
Up Online Banking' process again.

First of all, thanks for your prompt response.
As it happens, I have an investment account with Fidelity and it
works with
MoneyDance.

It seems to me that MoneyDance is confused about the account. If
you look
at the screen shot I provided, it's a MoneyDance dialog box. There
are two
check box options ("Online Banking" & "Bill Payment Enabled")
that cannot be
selected.

Thanks,

You are correct Moneydance is confused or it might be more
accurate to say that Fidelity Investments is confused.
Fidelity is expecting the account that you created in Moneydance to
be an Investment Account not a Credit Card account. Yes it
matters.
You must create the account in Moneydance as an Investment Account
in order for Fidelity to recognize it so that Moneydance can then
offer up the Online Banking option that is currently greyed
out.
From what I've read in these forums, the new 2011 release of
Moneydance is supposed to have the ability to work around this
issue.

So, the problem here is that the types of transaction in
Investment accounts can be very different from the types of
transactions in Credit Card accounts. If Fidelity is sending you
Credit Card transactions, they really should tag it as such.
Otherwise, we would have a lot of trouble properly handling the
download. If they are actually sending investment transactions,
even though they've issued you a plastic card, then you'll need to
create an investment account in Moneydance for your card.

If you're willing and interested, you could send me an OFX file
from them to look at and I could tell you what it is they are
actually sending. You should be able to download an OFX (or QFX)
file from their website. You can email it to me at jessica AT
moneydance.com, and I'll get back to you with what I find.

Thanks for your response.
I'm nervous about sending a QFX to you by way of unsecured
e-mail.
(I assume that the QFX file contains my full account number). I've
looked through Google & Firebox for suggestions for encrypting
a
message but couldn't find anything that seemed to provide such
functionality.

Do you now of anything I might use?

Thanks again for your help,

Unfortunately, I don't know of an easy way to send an encrypted
email. The QFX does indeed include your full account number so, to
be safe you should redact any account info in the debug logs. Just
replace it with something like ACCOUNT NUMBER HERE
and it should be fine.

I generated a QFX file from my account.
Using a text editor, I changed my account number.
Nothing else should have been changed in that file.

ps- please delete the sample file when you're done working with
it.

Thanks for the file. I see the problem now. It turns out that
Fidelity Investments doesn't not use their main OFX server to
handle credit card downloads. That's why, when you connect to them,
you don't get the option to download credit card data. They only
offer investment data for download. For their credit card OFX
needs, they use FIA Card Services, which unfortunately doesn't
support direct connections. You can still download QFX files from
Fidelity and import them into Moneydance, but you won't be able to
automatically download the credit card transactions in the same way
you download investment transactions.

I'm sorry for the inconvenience. Please let me know if I can be
of further assistance, and thanks for your interest in
Moneydance!
