Without knowing details like what financial Institution this is, what error messages you may be get, etc it is not really possible to analyse what may be happening and why.

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/487676382020-10-26T02:01:12Z2020-10-26T02:01:14ZDownload transactions opens my online account

I am trying to connect with Capital One, I do not get any error messages, I get log in page inside the app. When I log in, it I just like I am online and can do online banking but nothing gets transferred to MoneyDance.

I select download Venture One Transactions

I get this:

If I log in, I can do my normal online banking but I do not see any way to get my transactions to the app.

Thank you -

I understand what you are doing.

When you choose this download option, or click on the download button in the account register, if Direct Connect has not been configured for an organisation and the Web URL has then Moneydance starts its Embedded Browser. I'll refer to it as Moneydance Connect to ensure there is no confusion with any other system or with your system level browser.

The goal of Moneydance Connect is to interact with financial Institutions Internet sites to facilitate transaction downloads, this can go as far as automating the downloads via scripting, but at the simplest level intercepting the downloads to bring the data into Moneydance.

Moneydance Connect is still very much in the early phases of its development, this should really be considered a Beta feature. The first iteration came in Moneydance 2019, a lot of it has been rewritten for the 2021 release.

At the moment there are many institutions it does not work with, and it looks like Capital One fits into that group. It also does not work with my banks and I have fed detailed logs back to the developer on those connection attempts.

So I do not think you are missing anything, it is just that the current development state of Moneydance Connect is not working with your institution.

If I recall correctly Capital One stopped supporting Direct Connect so in that instance the available option is to manually download the transaction files with your system browser and importing those files. The Open Account Website will open your system browser and take you to the website.

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/487676382020-10-26T08:10:24Z2020-10-26T08:10:24ZDownload transactions opens my online account

I am not support staff, just a user.
Hi Marcene

Just to add to dwg comments.

When you are as dwg says, for want of a better word, using Moneydance connect the process is exactly the same as if you were using your normal browser. I am not a capital one client but in general the process is the same so all banks, Login, navigate to the download page, select download file type, QFX or OFX as first choice and if these are not available QIF. Then click on the download button you see on the banking site. This is the point were Moneydance connect should intercept the download and instead of a file being downloaded to your hard drive it goes straight into Moneydance and you can now select the account it imports into. If it’s a QFX/OFX file type the next time you use this feature, provided you ticked the box on the first run, the transaction will just go to the correct account.

That this stage of development it works for some bank, one of mine works, the other doesn’t. Its work in progress. Make sure you are running the latest preview build at https://infinitekind.com/preview

It was preview build 2007 that got one of my banks working.

Hope this helps.

derekkent23tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/487676382020-10-27T03:11:32Z2020-10-27T03:11:32ZDownload transactions opens my online account

Thank you both, I will give it another try to download the file. I am disappointed, I picked Moneydance because I thought it would easily download transactions.

Importing data into Moneydance is generally straightforward. Getting the data from the financial institution easily and in a usable form can be a challenge.

dwg
