I don't think your
representative's comment about "layered configuration" points to an
actual impediment to connecting to PNC through Moneydance.
Sometimes it is necessary to tell bank representatives that you are
using Quicken for Windows because they are not familiar with
Moneydance. The PNC connection seems to be working for us. Are you
continuing to have a connection issue?</p></div>Brian Adlertag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/1773572009-11-21T14:25:10Z2009-11-21T14:25:15ZPNC Bank Direct Connect<div><p>I am also having trouble connecting to PNC Bank. I've confirmed
that the account setup information is correct, but when I attempt
to connect I receive the following error message: "The given
customer ID or PIN is not valid. For more information, contact your
financial institution. Additional information from the server:
signon (for example, user ID or password) invalid."</p>
<p>I contacted PNC customer service, and their response was that
they don't support MoneyDance. But it appears that other users are
successfully connecting, so I must still be missing something. I've
confirmed that my signon credentials are correct, and I've tried
unsuccessfully to locate some sort of "Enable online banking'
option at PNC's website.</p>
<p>Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm using MD 2008r4 (640).
Thanks!</p></div>Scott Timmtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/1773572009-11-21T15:44:39Z2009-11-21T15:44:41ZPNC Bank Direct Connect<div><p>In order to link Moneydance to PNC directly, you need a special
username and password that differs from the one you use to sign
into your PNC account online. PNC will issue this unique username
and password if you ask them to set you up for Quicken Direct
Connect. It is not enough to say to them, "I am using money
management software similar to Quicken, so please enable my account
as if I am using Quicken," because they will tell you that they
only support Quicken. This conversation can be a lengthy one if you
try to convince them otherwise, so I suggest you just do as I did
and tell them you're using Quicken. They will then send you a
packet in the mail with a lot of information about how to setup
your account in Quicken, including the username and password that
you need.</p></div>Gaetan Sgrotag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/1773572009-11-21T16:35:40Z2009-11-21T16:35:40ZPNC Bank Direct Connect<div><p>Thanks for the tip - as long as the setup procedure matches that
of Quicken Direct Connect, I'll just ask for that. I appreciate the
help - thanks so much.</p></div>Scott Timm
