Neither of these banks support Moneydance, according to the person on the phone. True?

No, they are both supported. See the list of supported institutions here:

Moneydance uses the same direct connect protocol as Quicken. Just tell your banks that you want to enable direct connect through Quicken 2009, and it will work.

OK, despite what they told me at JPMorganChase, I've got online Chase set up, it took 3 tries, but one finally downloaded. However, with TDAmeritrade, and using MD's Online Banking Signup, the page "Please Choose the Account" which gives the choices of Online Banking or Bill Payment, this is grayed out and I can make no choice. I do not want the brokerage account downloaded, just the checking account.

    Hi Karen,

It appears that TDAmeritrade is just a brokerage and not a bank, so they probably do not offer banking downloads. Your checking account with them is part of your brokerage account, not a separate entity like a standard bank checking account. My guess is that all checking transactions will be in with your brokerage account transactions. If you set up Moneydance to connect to your brokerage account, you should be able to download those transactions.

If you try to connect a Moneydance account of the type Checking to your brokerage account, you'll encounter the problem you have described. This is because TDAmeritrade only thinks you have brokerage accounts, so when you ask for a checking account, they don't return anything.

Please let me know if you continue to have problems connecting or have any further questions.
