I am using latest Mojave and latest stable MD. Today when I quit I got two messages - first one said something about syncing changes and the second said saving. I do not sync at all. It is switched off in sync settings. Yesterday my backup file was around 95mb, todays is 22mb? Should I be concerned and what is going on.
Advic / help appreciated.
Cheers.../

tonyttag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/485042492020-08-02T20:17:52Z2020-08-02T20:17:52ZSyncing and saving changes then saving messages

Hello,

It's difficult for me to say one way or another with that amount of information. Have you recently changed which version of Moneydance you are using? Does your data appear to be ok when you open it again?

We could take a look at your error log to see if it indicates anything is amiss, if you'd be willing to post it. If you're using Mac OS X, it should be located at one of these locations within your Home folder:

~/Library/Containers/com.infinitekind.MoneydanceOSX/Data/Library/Application Support/Moneydance/errlog.txt

or:

~/Library/Application Support/Moneydance/errlog.txt

If you have any trouble finding your Home Library folder, open Finder, select Go -> Go to Folder -> from the menu bar, and copy and paste in:

~/Library

This should pull up your local Library folder.

If you're using Windows, it should be located at:

C:/Users/(yourusername)/.moneydance/errlog.txt

If you're using Linux, it should be located at:

/home/(yourusername)/.moneydance/errlog.txt

The main time I have seen significant changes in file sizes that have been induced by the software is when syncing has initially been turn on. Moneydance does a file consolidation at this point, so the data set size can be reduced considerably. The only other times I have seen it has been the result of fingers on a keyboard or mouse.

There is no way of compacting files in Moneydance, nor would such a process have any effect as Moneydance does not delete data and leave holes.

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/485042492020-08-04T05:27:08Z2020-08-04T05:27:08ZSyncing and saving changes then saving messages

Hi dwg
Another bump, sorry, but I really would appreciate a reply from you as I provided the log file as you requested. Since there seems nothing wrong there judging by other comments I guess the question is - what's going on???
I guess I want to know my data is secure!
Many thanks in anticipation....

tonyt
