You can use MiscInc instead of Div if you prefer. They both
accept the same fields and are used for income associated with a
security that goes into the cash balance. But no, you can't
customize those choices. (The choice list you can customize for
bank accounts are the Check# values, which are actually below the
Action choice for investment accounts, but rarely used).

Not sure I'm following this, but if you are talking about
interest earned on the cash balance, I do this as an Xfr
transaction with the category: Investment:Bank Interest. You can
use any category you want, but I wouldn't use another account.

I guess my point here is that there are a lot of very specific
transaction choices in the investment register, two of which
involve dividends, but none for interest. And that strikes me as
peculiar. My reference to customization that can be done with bank
account register entries was not so much about changing any of
them, which I assume are hard coded, but rather being able to add
two for the investment register - "int" & "intxfr" - the
interest counterparts to the dividend choices. Is this something
that belongs in suggestions?

It appears that I was doing this one the hard way. Thanks.

This probably does belong in Suggestions. Our feature request and bug reporting
system is integrated with our wiki. We invite our users to
register and use these systems to help improve Moneydance by
bringing bugs to our attention and requesting new features. We now
also have voting on all existing tickets, which helps us determine
how wide-spread bugs are and which requests have the most demand.
We also track suggestions posted here, but the trac system allows
us to determine demand, which we find quite useful.

The reason I can think of why it is not currently done that way
is that interest is a type of income of MiscIncome, so I would
probably personally track it as MiscInc. Please also note that the
Check# field allows you to create other categorizations for your
transactions, so you could create an appropriate entry in this
field if you like. You can create custom entries for this field by
accessing “Edit Account” from the “Account
Menu” when you are on the homepage.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance, and thank
you for your interest in Moneydance.

small modification.

steve
