Is there a way to show the sum of selected line items?

just a user,
When I can't find a report function I need, I just copy the report with the details involved and paste it into a spreadsheet. Then I can total and subtotal to my hearts content.

I think this is a great idea - and something I saw many years ago in an otherwise highly inferior competitor product - selecting the lines on the screen shows a summed up value on bottom bar. Kinda like Excel.
