To delete a data file, you'll first need to locate it.
Open Moneydance and choose Help > Show Documents Folder.
This will open a new window displaying your .moneydance data files.

Before you make any changes, it's very important you close the Moneydance program and ensure it's closed fully.
Once closed, you can delete any of the .moneydance files you don't need.

When you open Moneydance again, you may see the 'Welcome to Moneydance' window. Your remaining data files will be listed on the right of the window, and you can select the file name to open it.

The steps to delete a data file are also outlined in this article from the knowledge base.

I have tried this several times and the Base account still remains although it has nothing in it. It also remains on the opening screen on the right hand side. I never se the instruction Delete/Move to Trash.
