Currency issues in the Trial version of MoneyDance
Hello. I am trying out MoneyDance since I am looking for an alternative to Quicken 2007.
1. I noticed that the Euro/USD exchange rate in your "Translate Currencies" tool is WAY wrong. It shows 0.68 Euro/USD when the correect rate is 0.88 Euro/USD. Please explain why.
2 Will it be possible to set the exchange rate I want for Euro/USD on a particular account or does the software automatically update it ?
3. I noticed that in the "trial" version of Moneydance it is not possible to change the currency set for a particular account. Is this also the case in the purchased version ?
Thank you !

For 1/2, try out the Extension "Quote Loader"... it can automatically update Security prices and exchange rates.
For 3 - someone else will jump in, I'm sure, but part of the answer is - the trial is the full product, with a limitation of 100 manually entered entries.

I'm a fellow user.
Out of the box the software has an historic exchange rate for each currency. Updates to exchange rates and stock quotes are obtained through the use of extensions. This design approach allows for updates and enhancements to be made to these tools to be performed outside of the main program.
Moneydance itself does not allow for the currency of an account to be changed once it has transactions in it since the implication could be that you want to convert every transaction in that account between currencies, that could be quite an undertaking.
However it is recognised that the currency indicator may have been incorrectly set by mistake hence the toolbox extension has an option to change the currency indicator for an account i.e. the value of each transaction is not changed.

I am not support staff, just a user.
Hi Michel
In the following there is no difference between the trial mode and purchased version.
As dwg suggests try the extension Quote Loader under EXTENSIONS – MANAGE EXTENSION
For information on the features of this extension and how to use see post 200 at
https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/discussions/investments/4914-the...
Download the PDF’s attached to post 200 and have a read.
To get an overview take a look at the YouTube videos by using the links on page 1 and 2 of the PDF.
Let us know how you get on or if you need help just post.
There is an Extension that allows you to change the currency of an Account.
Load the extension Toolbox from EXTENSIONS – MANAGE EXTENSIONS. Then under EXTENSIONS run Toolbox. Click TOOLBOX OPTIONS and activate ADVANCE MODE.
Click and follow the prompts taking the option to DO BACKUP NOW in case you want to do a RESTORE FROM BACKUP later if the result is not what you wanted.
Click on MENU: ACCOUNT & CATEGORIES TOOLS and select FIX FORCE CHANGE AN ACCOUNTS CURRENCY then click PROCEED and follow the prompts.
Hope this helps.
