set start for reconciliation
Reconcile comes up with a date in the middle of the month as the start point. I want to set it to a specific date

I'm a fellow user.
The only date I am aware of that can come up during reconcile is the As of Date, this only appears if you download transactions and it only means that transactions before this date are marked as reconciling, it is not a starting date. Hence I am not certain what you are referring to.

Do you perhaps mean the date range of transactions that are presented to go through the reconciliation process in that window? If so, Moneydance brings up all transactions in that account that are not already marked as Cleared in the register. Are the transactions you are expecting to appear already marked as Cleared?
If that's still not what you mean, please try to explain your question in more detail, and feel free to attach screenshots of what you're looking at if that's helpful. If you're not sure how to take a screenshot, please see http://www.take-a-screenshot.org/

I am concerned with the starting balance which seems to not be
close. but I am going to run reconcile 2/3/2022 when my bank statement
comes. It might be an illusion that will be credited with a real
reconcile rather than me just checking off the ones that are reconciled

Ok, sounds good. I'll close this thread, but feel free to reply if there's still an issue when you try that.
