Is Moneydance syncing going to be affected by the upcoming Dropbox location change?
Apple is preventing third party kernel extensions used by Dropbox and Onedrive in 12.3. This is going to result in the ~/Dropbox folder relocating to ~/Library/CloudStorage/Dropbox.

This has already happened for Onedrive and some (but not all, and not me) Dropbox beta users. Very odd that the move has happened for some Dropbox users and not others, all using the same Dropbox beta and macOS 12.3.
Will this affect Dropbox syncing, because the .moneydancesync file will be a different location?
Thanks

Hi,
Thank you for contacting Moneydance support.
Generally when you select Dropbox Folder in Moneydance all it is doing is going to a predefined location, it is really nothing more than Shared Folder but with a built in folder that is pre-selected. So, in your case you should use the Shared Folder option and navigate to where the Dropbox folder is on your computer.
This is the method that needs to be used if a user installs the Dropbox client but selects a custom location for the folder rather than the default.
In other words, you would have to sync with a shared folder. You have to unhide the hidden folders in Finder (command shift period) and choose : users/[user]/library/CloudStorage/Dropbox.
This seems to be the change coming in Monterey 12.3 and the new beta of Dropbox to get stop using the Dropbox kernel extensions and use the Apple API for files that are only in the cloud and not on the device.
I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions or need more assistance.

Yes I already use Dropbox Folder method and it is working fine. I don't recall navigating to the ~/Dropbox folder when setting this up. Since this is the default location I assume Moneydance used this.
So are you saying that when this change happens I (+ everyone using Dropbox syncing) will need to re-set up syncing and navigate to the new location ~/Library/CloudStorage/Dropbox?
My understanding is that the location change affects all Dropbox files not just the cloud-only ones, (although the change has been driven by the Kernel extension used for cloud-only files).
If there is a change here, it will affect everyone using Dropbox syncing.

Maddy everything you said above has been confirmed by my experience here https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/discussions/iphone-ipod-touch-ip.... I didn't understand fully when I responded before!
This is going to take a lot of Mac users by surprise over the next month or so.
